This monitor is not multisync; it is a single-frequency product intended

for 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz, with a horizontal rate of 47.7 kHz. The very-similar

98752A is also single-frequency, but for 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz (63.34 kHz

horizontal). The 1024 x 768 timing is an old HP-unique one; the 1280 x 1024

isn't exactly a standard either, but as this was Sony's standard 1280 timing

at 60 Hz, a number of workstation and PC systems used it.

Timing summary for HP-CCMO monitors

All of our monitors for a given resolution (1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024) use

the same timing. In addition, the following signal/input specifications are

common to all:

1. Input connectors and impedance: Separate BNC connectors for Red, Green, and

Blue. 75 ohms impedance.

2. Signal levels: Signal levels per EIA standard RS-343A; white positive.

Composite sync to be supplied on the Green signal only

(Note: horizontal sync pulses need not be supplied during

the vertical sync pulse.)

3. Timing

All signal timing is +/- 5%.

No, the "refresh rate" generally refers to the vertical rate, although it

is sometimes unclear for interlaced displays whether one is talking about

the "field" rate or the "frame" rate. (Not to worry here; all HP workstations

run non-interlaced display formats.)

The A1097C (any of the A1097 models, for that matter) is a fixed-frequency

(not "multisync") monitor intended to support a display format of

1280 x 1024 at 72 Hz refresh; the horizontal rate is 78.125 kHz.

The details of this timing are listed below:

HP 1280 x 1024 72 Hz timing

Pixel clock.......................135 MHz (7.407 ns)

Horizontal sweep frequency......78.125 kHz

Horizontal period (total).......12.799 us (1728 pixels)

Horizontal active time...........9.481 us (1280 pixels)

Horizontal front porch...........0.474 us ( 64 pixels)

Horizontal sync width............1.422 us ( 192 pixels)

Horizontal back porch............1.422 us ( 192 pixels)

Horizontal blanking..............3.318 us ( 448 pixels)

Vertical sweep frequency........72.008 Hz ("Refresh rate")

Vertical period.................13.887 ms (1085 lines)

Vertical active time............13.107 ms (1024 lines)

Vertical front porch............38.39 us ( 3 lines)

Vertical sync width.............38.39 us ( 3 lines)

Vertical back porch............703.95 us ( 55 lines)

Vertical blanking................0.780 ms ( 61 lines)

All video signals conform to RS-343A levels (as listed below), and expect

75 ohms termination.

RS-343A Signal Levels

White.........0.714V above blank

Black.........0.054V above blank

Blank.........REFERENCE (AC coupled system)

Sync Tip......0.286V below black
